THANKS!!

The one that you feel is the most interesting, or intellectually stimulating.

A lot of FWSs aren’t recurring classes every year, and they’re usually taught by a grad student, so theres no professor reputation to refer to.

that’s my problem. i find something interesting about each of them. should i leave it to chance?

Well don’t you get to choose 5 you like on the ballot?

Just rank them in the order of what you would like the most

My friend took fairytales and it seemed pretty good. I mean nobody took him seriously when he was complaining about reading Snow White, haha, but it seemed like an enjoyable class.

It really all depends on the professor/TA though

My friend was in phil1111 and said that the topics covered were pretty interesting, however the prof graded papers pretty hard so you needed to understand his feedback and ask questions. I don’t think he had to read much for the class as well, or at least the class discussion was not wholly dependent on the readings assigned

thanks for the input everyone. anyone else have an opinion about one of these classes?

It all seems so random anyway.

i put all my choices and they didn’t give me any of them. i ended up enrolling via student center in one of the classes that was on my list, so I don’t even know why I didn’t get it.

anyway, my point is that you probably don’t have a lot of chance of picking exactly one class anyway

there are only about 10 options that fit into my schedule. What happens if i can’t get any of those? will i be automatically enrolled in a fws that conficts with my other classes?

then you move your other classes…why would you not be able to get into one of those 10?

“i put all my choices and they didn’t give me any of them”

that’s why i’m worried. plus, i’m happy with my schedule at the moment. my only other option would be to take a class at 8am. i’m sure i’d get used to it though

i would be grateful if someone could answer my question instead of leaving a sarcastic comment. i believe i have a reason to be nervous here. i’m pretty much locked into my schedule right now and i don’t want to have to worry about shuffling everything around during the add/drop period.

so… is it possible to be enrolled in a fws that conflicts with my schedule? how would i deal with that?

The system isn’t random, it is well done. Even the cost function for the optimization is carefully planned and designed to distribute classes exactly the way they choose

if you consider the above responses too sarcastic, you’re in for a long 4 years!

relax!

well actually they didn’t give me one that was on my list, they gave me nothing. I had to sign up for one when student center opened back up. I was able to sign up for one that was on my original list. No idea why they didn’t give it to me in the first place.

You will find a FWS that fits your schedule. It may not be anything you want to take, but it will fit your schedule.

thanks suziechapstik! your post helped a lot.
involvedobserver: it’s not all the posts that bothered me. most were really helpfull. it was Feral24’s post that i was referring to.
