Which college is the most likely to admit you with financial aid?

Which college would provide you with the most generous financial aid package if admitted?

We cannot answer either of these questions, by the way. Financial aid is pretty hit-and-miss, as is international admission with financial need. (Just to throw a number out there, Colby said a few years ago that they were getting 900 application from international students for 10 financial aid packages.) The best you can do is to apply broadly and keep your fingers crossed.

For what it’s worth, Trinity University funds the biggest number of students but with a low average financial aid package. (That suggests that they are mostly admitting students who can make a significant financial contribution to their education.) Bates has the greatest average financial aid packages but funds fewer students. Wesleyan is in between the two on both measures. Note that the number of students funded does not tell you anything about the competition for these funds.

Bates=Will try to meet the full demonstrated need
Lehigh=Does not guarantee to meet full demonstrated need of internationals
Wesleyan=Limited aid for internationals
Trinity College=Meets full demonstrated need

Wow, thanks for all the info! Such nice people.

Why is that? I particularly like Hamiton, so I’d like to know.

Nice question! I guess I’m looking for the college that is more likely to give me the closest to a full ride possible, no matter how hard it is to get in, since I truly need it.

Checked their website:

It seems hard to get a Fin. Aid package close to a full ride in here, even with need-based and scholarships. What do you -all- think?

I understand it, and find it one of the things that make it worth the effort most.
