I will most likely not be getting much financial aid. Here’s my list of schools:
Georgetown
UPenn
Cornell
Tufts
Lehigh
Villanova
Boston College
Northeastern
Brandeis
UDel
UMD
UConn
Penn State
Rutgers New Brunswick
Out of these schools, which ones will most likely give me the most merit aid?

I am applying for a business major and possibly for a music minor. I also have about $14,000 of my own money that I got from working as a referee and a busser invested in the stock market. Could I also mention that on my common app?
If you are managing your money and have learned a lot I think it’s fine to mention it. I wouldn’t worry about offending anybody by writing frankly about money at a Public Midwest Business School, maybe it’s a different story and taboo for other colleges. I’d take my queue from how candid the school is about what kind of merit aid and financial aid can be expected, if they are very specific like OSU I’d say it’s fine. If you have no idea and can’t find such information after looking I’d be very cautious about divulging specifics.
If anybody else agrees/disagrees with this logic please advise.
Lehigh has full and half tuition scholarships, as well as smaller awards for about $10,000. Keep in mind that merit is very hard to get.
Northeastern is very competitive.
UMD may give you about $8000
UConn may give you about $10,000 ( not sure what they gave during this most recent app season)
You would likely get some at UDel- although they gave more several years ago
You should look at Rowan University (NJ Public). They have a brand new business school building, with your AP scores you could probably get credit for up to a year of college and finish in 3 years. They are generous with merit aid. My daughter will graduate in 3 years with ZERO debt for anything. Message me or check out the Rowan board for more info.
Montclair State has a great location and no money to give.
Ramapo is a beautiful campus, smaller size and gives merit.
TCNJ gives some merit, but not nearly as much as Rowan. It considers itself highly, so that may be why.
Look hard at the numbers - why come out with $100K in loans? With your business sense you know better than that!
Northeastern
Brandeis
UDel
UMD
UConn
Rutgers
will give you some merit. Best shot for big amounts is Rutgers. Since you’re from NJ also apply to TCNJ (TCNJ’s campus is better in my opinion). If you want OOS, add Temple, UAlabama, UMN Twin Cities, Indiana Kelley.
Fordham may well give you a full tuition scholarship (competitive).
How much are your parents willing to pay?
How much in scholarship doesn’t matter, what matters most is the net cost. So, if you get 10K off 32K at Rutgers, your’re better off than at Northeastern with 30K off 70K.
Villanova does give merit aid. For the big award you have to be nominated and apply separately. It is explained in its website. I would assume very competitive as the school is becoming more selective by the year (especially the B school).
UCONN does give many out of state students with your stats $18,000. I have similar stats and instate and most likely receive a smaller amount of merit from UCONN
What matters isn’t the amount of scholarship, but rather the COA you start with.
So, a $10,000 scholarship off a $24,000 instate COA is better than $18,000 off $48,000 OOS COA.
