Virginia Commonwealth University and George Mason University

I got accepted to both, but I'm having a difficult time deciding on which to go to. I do not care about the social life, location, etc. I did a lot of research but just couldn't find a good comparison for marketing. I just want to know which would be better for a marketing major.

If you’ve done a lot of research and examined the websites for information about the respective programs, it may be that it makes no difference which school you choose. You can major in marketing at either one and do just as well in the field. If you still are having doubts, why don’t you visit each school and see if you can talk to the head of the marketing departments and sit in on a class or two.

If you are looking for some objective difference between the two programs (ie, rankings) I suspect there really isn’t much difference.

Look at the environment, the school’s vibe (more or less “commuter”/residentiel), which offers the most opportunities for internships (check out the career center, ask questions - to see what questions to ask, fire up your browser and look up The College Solution, “Questions for the Career Center”)

It’s hard to come by specific rankings on Marketing…

Overall, USNWR ranks the overall schools nearly the same, and both have MBA programs that don’t make the ranked list. Businessweek doesn’t have either of their undergraduate business programs in the top 124.

Apart from that limited data, I imagine that neither is considered obviously better than the other. So, you will have to visit and go with your gut.
