Which one...UCB or UCLA

It's a really tough decision to make. Obviously Cal has a better reputation globally/nationally, but which one would be the best college experience overall...(socially/mentall/job opportunities wise) etc.

Thanks!

What are your interests? They’re both excellent schools, but they excel in some different areas.

Depends on you.For me it boiled down to financial aid for the most part. I’d have to take out a 7000 loan for B, while UCLA is offering me a full ride, no work study, Regents perks.
However, I dislike how the area around Berkeley seems very dangerous.

I haven’t decided on my final college yet (still waiting) but if I have to choose, I’d pick LA over Cal.

Well, the area will teach you to man up.

Both schools are great! Choose the place you will enjoy living for the next four years. Congratulations on your admissions.

ankur, what if OP is female… whould she still need to learn to “man” up?

Which gave you more fin aid?

DunninLA, okay fine, toughen up for the real world. You can’t be sheltered all day in your nice friendly cities.

Ankur, I agree with that thought … aside from concerns about bodily safety, I think parents in the U.S. (especially those living in affluent suburbia) are overly concerned about how “nice” a college neighborhood is. Too many think their kid’s aren’t ready to be exposed to real urban neighborhoods, with every ethnicity, some crime and graphitti, and people who don’t even own cars.

A little toughening up would be beneficial… that is simply my value judgement.

Berkeley hands down
no question about it.

I am mostly interested in Biology (Sciences) and Computer Science. But I know double majoring is very hard at both UCLA & Cal =(

Does anyone has personal experiences about any of the two colleges?

Thanks so much!!
