So I'm applying for the Critical Language Scholarship Program for this summer (basically an intensive Arabic language program abroad where we cover a year's worth of material in like 8 weeks) and I need two professor recommendations, which is a bit of a problem since I'm a freshman and don't know many of my professors that well. I've already asked my Arabic professor, the one who knows me the best anyway, so I'm all set there; I'm just trying to figure out what my best bet is for the 2nd and would love some advice!

Basically I have two options: my seminar professor and my gov professor. My gov class is a lecture class, though there are only like 80 students and I do talk in class almost every meeting, and I've gone to office hours so I feel like he knows who I am. My seminar (on terrorism) is a lot smaller, only 20 students, but the professor hasn't made any effort to get to know us, like he still doesn't know a single person's name. However, I do talk in class and I think he knows who I am. I've definitely gotten positive feedback about my comments in his class, and the gov professor seems to have thought the questions I brought to office hours were good, so I think they both like me ok though neither knows me that well. Next week I'll have my gov midterm, so he would have that to go off of if he's the one who actually grades them (the application is due November 15) and the week after I have a presentation in my seminar class, so he would have that to judge me on although it would be fairly close to the deadline so I'm not sure...

Anyway I'd love to hear what you guys think as to which option makes the most sense. I'm kind of leaning towards the seminar professor at this point because it's a smaller class, but I kind of have a feeling that the gov professor is more interested in his students, but I don't know how many lectures he teaches and how many students he has...any thoughts on who I should ask?
