I am planning of taking SAT II Latin and Spanish. But I'd like to take (and send the scores) of another test.
I thought about Literature, but then I had a doubt: Latin, Spanish and Lit are all linguistics related subjects. Should I take something science related? Like Math or Chem?
I am pretty fond of literature, but we do not cover it a lot in my school. I think I'd be able to score well on Math I, but i don't know about Math 2.
What should I take?

definitely take a math or science. Or you could take Lit., math/science, and either spanish/latin (you don’t really need two language tests)

i am definitely going to take both latin and spanish, since i know i can score 750+ on latin and i do not take spanish at school but i want to prove that i know it. so i think i’ll take math, or chem…

thanks!

Take math II instead of math I because the curve is better. That being said, there are more advanced topics on trig and other stuff on math II. Ideally if you have taken or are currently taking a pre calc class take math II.

Lit does not require a lot of prep, IMHO. Because it isn’t about having read specific literature, it is more about being able to interpret what you read (kind of CR-ish). You do need to know the different forms of literature and poetry, but a few hours with a good prep book will get you there. My kids scored 800 and 740 on Lit with almost no prep (they have strong CR scores on the SAT, too).

That said, if you think you can score over 700 on a science or math SAT, try that. Although Math I isn’t really considered much use – study up and go for Math II would be a better idea. Also… the answer to this may depend a bit on your Math SAT score. If that is strong and your grades in those classes are strong as well, then I would not worry about diversity in your subject tests.

Why is your Spanish so good? If you speak it at home, I think that is kind of a “throwaway” score in the eyes of schools (eg, a lot of students from China take the Chinese test – that is sort of “cheating” in a way if it is your native language). They want you to prove that you can STUDY and learn a subject, I think. But if you speak it well for another reason (eg, early immersion school or something), that might be worth doing.

Literature is exactly my thing. I mean, I am good at it. I totally think I can score well.
I am also good at math, but our program doesn’t cover a lot and my teacher often skip some stuff. So I am afraid my score won’t be high enough.

I am from Italy, so at home I speak Italian. I have done 6 years of Spanish in elementary and middle school, but then I stop studying it in high school. However I spent some weeks in Spain the past years, so I still know the language. With a little bit of studying, I can do great. I don’t know but I get the feeling that this Spanish thing can be a great thing on my app. And I am pretty sure I am going to take it.

I want to take Latin instead only to prove a point. I am an international student. Who will read my college application does not know anything about how the school goes here. I want to show them how hard is it, and what a grade is like. I want to give them a meter of comparison from my grades to the american ones.
