So I’ve applied to a 4 schools, and soon it will probably be 6. I have applied to Butler University, Baylor University, DePaul University, and University of Minnesota Twin Cities. I plan on applying to University of Wisconsin Madison and probably University of Notre Dame. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.7 with all honors and AP classes and an ACT score of 30. I also do many extracurriculars (4 clubs, 1 sport, 4 arts activities/extracurriculars), and a lot of volunteering. I want to major in biology/biological sciences and then go further and become a doctor.
My top two college choices right now are either DePaul or UW Madison. UW is obviously a Big 10 school with amazing academics and a great reputation; however, DePaul has a partnership with the Rosalind Franklin Medical School and I would possibly be able to get into that right away without taking MCATs because of the Pathways Honors Program that they have for honors students (to get into the honors program students typically have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and an ACT score of 27). I think I have a really good chance in getting into DePaul and the Pathways Honors Program but I don’t know about UW Madison. So, my questions are:
Which program would be better for me as a student who wants to become a doctor?
Do I have a good chance of getting into UW even though I am an out of state student?
Should I consider DePaul even though if I change my major I might not have as good of backups as UW would offer?
Should I even apply to Notre Dame?
Is there another school I should consider as one of my main choices because of their Biology Programs?
(At this point in time, cost is not a main issue, but I’d assume DePaul would give me more merit scholarships than UW. I’d rather focus on the academic programs instead of cost right now). Thank you so much for answering!
