Which school is better for undergrad Engineering? UMASS Amherst, SUNY Buffalo, WVU.

I have /or will be admitted to these schools and I am interested in Electrical or Computer Engineering. I have a scholarship from WVU which makes that an easy choice, but I am concerned about the reputation. Also concerned about the size of UMASS but I heard good things about the engineering programs.

We investigated UMass for my engineering freshman son. Nothing I read about the school drew us to it. My son applied to and was accepted at all engineering schools he applied to (SUNY’s, OOS, and privates) and ultimately chose UBuffalo.

The USNWR ranks undergrad engineering programs and UB was in the top tier. At accepted students open house (when they first went to look at the school) my son and husband were floored by all the wonderful things going on in their labs. Additionally, UB has some great programs and many grad programs. The kids are very, very happy up there. (Airport is minutes from campus and you can fly into JKF,LGA or Islip many times a day.) My son fit in right away. He is just a second semester freshman but got all his classes. He hopes to have a double engineering major.

Oh- he got $3000/year which was nice and unexpected. Can’t beat the cost.

Thanks for the info it was very helpful, just got admitted to Purdue Engineering as well, but double the cost. Cheers

Believe it or not, SUNY-Buffalo is the best of the lot by leaps and bounds.

On this site, SquattingDog10 knows a fair amount about SUNY-Buffalo. I’d shoot a PM out that way if I were you…
