I will be transferring to either Sam Houston State University or West Texas A &M University. I am having a hard time selecting. Both have pros and cons. Does anyone know of these programs? I am a business major. Which school is better? Provide more opportunities after graduation?Etc.

While I’m not an expert, I think my opinion may calm your nerves: the universities’ business programs seem to be of the same value. If there is a cost difference, I would recommend going for the cheaper option.

On the surface, you could consider that WTAMU has an 81% success rate for business graduates employed at time of graduation; a 20:1 student-to-faculty ratio; and is located in a suburban area, which could be a pro or con depending on your taste.

On the other hand, Sam Houston has a good reputation in Texas, a 23:1 student-to-faculty ratio and is located in a rural area. My HS government teacher once told me that the FBI often recruited students at SHSU when he attended the school, though he did specify they mostly sought those who were majoring in Accounting. I am not sure if this would interest your or not.

If you are smart, you will find success at either school. Best of luck to you.

Thank you so much. I am leaning towards SHSU because I was told that they have a larger network for alums and is well known.
