Which school is better university of oregon or portland state university?

Both of these schools have the majors that I am thinking about: Chemistry and Japanese.
-I would like to study abroad in Asia and Europe.
-I want to be able to study multiple things like a double major maybe.
-I am Black so I am worried about discrimination.
If you need more information in order to make a decision please say so in your answer and I will post it immediately. Thank you!

Portland State is a mediocre school. Go to University of Oregon instead.

University of Oregon.

Have you visited either school?

PSU is a large, urban school in the middle of downtown portland with a big contingent of graduate students, adult learners, night school students, etc. Lots of urban opportunities, but not the “campus” feel and not a focus specifically on undergrad education.

U of Oregon is a true - if large - campus with 20k+ undergrads and a definite Eugene vibe. If you are interested in spectator sports, track and field, and a more typical residential undergrad experience - U of O wins.

Both schools have active diversity clubs and plenty of minority representation. Their cultures are so different, however, I think if you visited both you would know which one appealed to you more.

Take a look at Willamette. It’s in the same area as your other two schools and has a really fabulous Japanese program.
