Yeah, at this point I like unc and Michigan. Michigan is ranked higher on most places. Babson is #1 in entrepreneurship. I guess I need to decide bba or entrepreneur. Smu is definitely out of the question. Far less of a quality school in my opinion and the opinion of all rankers
Smu is still not less expensive than unc with merit money. Nothing to offer me really
SMU has a decent reputation, but that may be from some time back and not current, or not maybe with business.
Wait to see what happens with admission to all your choices and the $$. Make sure to visit the schools that you are interested in that seem to be a good match for you.
Babson is unranked in Business by US News 2017, but it is 100% business admin, mgmt and operations.
SMU is a national U, ranked 61 in US News 2017. Have you visited SMU? Have you visited Babson?
I just cannot see U MI worth the $$ if you have some good other options. I do know a fellow that did take out loans etc to go to U MI (money was beyond what parents had budgeted). He was a high stat guy, NM too. He worked a few years in some interesting work, and was paying on his school loans. Once he decided to go to law school instead of medicine (and obviously scored really high on his LSAT) he was accepted to Harvard, Columbia, and I can’t recall the other big name U. Since he was on his own, Harvard was at a reasonable cost because he was broke compared to many of his peers, having been independent of his parents over some time. U MI gave him the education he was seeking. Really bright kid.
If you aren’t sure what type of business you want to go into, Babson may not be the best bet.
It sounds like in a vacuum, UNC and UMich are the best options as others said. However, rather than looking in a vacuum, I think acute specifics on cost would be much more helpful than trying to get posters to comment in said vacuum.
If you’re asking US on CC which school we would pick, you should tell us the TOTAL Cost of Attendance of each of the schools on your list. Most of us would not blindly pick a school unless it was overwhelmingly better than the other options (IE Ivy League and Ivy League level schools).
^^^^No Ivy League or so called Ivy League level school is “overwhelmingly” better than Michigan.
I never said it was! I said Ivy League or Ivy League - level school. I’d put Stanford, MIT, Caltech, UMich, etc all at that upper level.
But I wouldn’t say that UMich is so much better than you can ignore the costs. After all, we still don’t know if OP is a direct admit to Ross
I just reread your post. I assumed you were referring to the OP’s other options in particular. Sorry for the misinterpretation. Also agree with your last statement.
No problem buddy, I can see how it’s a little bit vague!
I’d definitely go with UNC being Instate. I know you don’t want money considered, but UNC is a fantastic school that many would kill to go to and will be relatively inexpensive to you. If there’s any chance that you’ll go to grad school, go there. If not, I know some parents will give whatever money they save to their kids. Even without money being considered, I still think it is a fantastic option.
UNC grad here although many moons ago. If cost is not an issue or freezing your butt off for 40% of the year, I think Michigan is slightly better school. Also going to different area of the country will be a positive.
I would say Northeastern just because they have the lowest overall population.
Definitely Michigan or UNC. They have the best business programs of the bunch. Babson’s programs are great, but reputation wise won’t set you up as well as Michigan or UNC. Between those two, I’d just go off of fit.
northeastern!
