Which schools could I get into?

I am very interested in law school down the line and I’m hoping to get a general picture of what kind of schools I would have a good shot of getting into.

I have degrees in Statistics and Economics (from a Big 10 school) with a mediocre GPA (3.59). I currently work as an analyst at an econ consulting firm, working primarily on securities class actions and some antitrust, valuation, and market manipulation cases. I am also enrolled in a non-credit Financial Decision Making certificate program at the University of Chicago Graham School (Corporate Finance, Financial Accounting, etc.). I primarily work with UChicago professors and MBA/Econ PhDs, so I believe I can get good recommendation letters.

I hope to work 2-3 years before law school. I think that besides GPA/LSAT, my law school application will be strong (solid and relevant work experience, clear story of wanting to go into law & econ, financial education post undergrad). I have yet to take the LSAT. If I perform well on the LSAT (I have plenty of time to study and prepare), what kind of schools would likely be open to someone of my background? Would I have a decent shot at scholarships?

The GPA matters. The rest doesn’t, except for the work experience at a few schools. The LSAT is around 60-65% of your application at most schools, so without an LSAT score there’s no way to chance you. Score a 175 and doors will open. Score a 150 and they won’t. If law interests you (and presumably you have a good idea what law entails from working with lawyers at your consulting firm?), study hard for the LSAT. Then come back here when you have a score.
