Which schools focus on latter 2 years of undergrad?

Let’s get straight to the subject matter. I’m in a difficult major at an ABET accredited chemical engineering program. My major up until the middle of sophomore year was a very lousy 2.7. However, before graduating my GPA will (for my last 2.5 years) be a 3.7 (assuming the all-A's I have this semester continue through, which I think they will), rounding my total to about 3.4. So, I have one question: which graduate programs in biotechnology have a heavier focus on the last two years/improving GPA than the overall or cumulative GPA? I am having a hard time finding information on schools that focus on the latter two years of undergrad, and I want to know where to get the most out of busting my butt my last two years of undergrad. A 3.4 and great GRE’s/LOR’s probably won’t get me into places I’m looking, and I am wanting to work while attending grad school; it is important to me that I focus on a school that looks at the latter two years heavily and I need help finding information about such schools!

Thanks for any and all help.

As you are already aware, your GPA and your transcript are part of a holistic application process. I doubt that any school will explicitly say they emphasize the last two years more than other schools would. We have no idea how different admissions committees evalulate people. I’m sure most will consider the last two years more important since these are the important and relevant coursework for graduate school. It will be even more useful if you have taken any graduate courses and performed well. If anything, you’ll have to call them up yourself and ask. Is this Master’s or PhD?

My highest interest (a somewhat limited one) is to get a Master of Science in Biomaterials Sciences; few colleges across the country offer one, and none that I can find offer PhDs in such (though several do in somewhat similar fields). Two colleges of dentistry offering such a Master’s are at NYU and Texas A&M. I hope that I can get into one of these universities after about five years of biotechnology experience in industry and attaining my PE license. I still feel that GPA will come back to haunt me, though.
