Many parents probably visit this forum more often than the SAT Preparation one; this is why I am posting my question here as well.

I hope tzais01 will not mind my quoting her.
tzais01:
We did a campus visit at FSU on Tuesday. The admissions officer said that they were going to start using the Writing scores for those current juniors applying for Fall 2009.
...
We asked at our UF visit on Wednesday after hearing this at FSU, and they said they would not know until June.

So, my question to those who know:
Which schools are committed to using Writing scores?

I think Dartmouth is still NOT scrutinizing writing scores - unlike the other Ivies.

search for it. I know I've read like 3 threads and kaplan has a list of colleges (from 2005 though).

I know yale placed no weight on it and UPenn + Dartmouth place equal weight.

The University of Chicago does NOT look at the writing score, unless they've recently changed their policies.

My guess would be that the schools that used to require SAT II writing would be the ones that use writing scores, but apparently it is not necessarily so.

Here's the Kaplan link:

KAPLAN EXCLUSIVE: New SAT Scoring Policies from 374 Top Schools

for more accurate, up-to-date information, try the college board search site:

College Search - Find colleges and universities by major, location, type, more.

Find your school of interest, and then click on the SAT, AP, CLEP tab. This will give you detailed info on if, and in what ways, schools are using the writing section scores.
