I am currently a senior with a goal to become a TV scriptwriter. Inspired by Avatar: Last Airbender, Voltron, and many more shows, I want to make stories for cartoon TV shows. Right now I’m on the line in pursuing a place in LMU School of Film and TV or Chapman University… What I’m looking for is collaboration in a professional but fun environment and one on one learning. I don’t know where to go. Thoughts? Advise?
Those are great choices. Chapman popped into my mind as I started reading your post. Two big questions? Do those work in terms of admission (i.e. what are your general stats)? Do you have any financial constraints or a specific target for annual cost? Often cost is a huge part of the college decision.
Others that come to mind for writing, Wesleyan University (Lin-Manuel Miranda), Kenyon College (just google “famous Kenyon alums,” pretty stunning list of writers/actors/etc for a small LAC.), Emerson College in Boston (see majors in link), or Northwestern University, which is obviously extremely competitive. These are different schools. Kenyon has a stunning campus in a very, very small OH town. Emerson is an urban campus in a large city. NYU too, though it is also very competitive and very expensive. But just throwing ideas out there.

Good luck!

University of Southern California (USC) has a four year major in TV & Film Writing. I believe that it is highly selective.
