Which SSAT Scores to Send to Exeter and Andover

Hey guys,

I am applying to repeat ninth grade next school year at Exeter and Andover. Recently, I have taken two SSATs and have no idea which one to submit. I’ll summarize the differences in the tests below:

1st Test, January 2018

93% Overall all genders, 92% Overall just males

94% Verbal (same for all genders and just males)

77% Quantitative all genders, 75% Quantitative just males

92% Reading all genders, 93% Reading just males

My essay was terrible (if that matters)…

2nd Test, February 2018

94% Overall all genders, 93% Overall just males

92% Verbal (same for all genders and just males)

73% Quantitative all genders, 70% Quantitative just males

97% Reading (same for all genders and just males)

In this one, I knocked my essay out of the park.

Now, I have no idea which SSAT result to send, considering that I have a higher overall and a better essay in one, but everything else is better except for the reading section and the essay in the other.

Even with that, I’m scared about them not even looking at my application because I got less than a 90% in math, but I’m not sure if that’s a realistic concern or not.

Thank you all for your help with this issue.

Send both to Andover because they super-score. To Exeter, send the one that most reflects the strengths you portrayed in your application (if your strengths are in writing, don’t send the one with the terrible essay!) Hope that helps

Every school superscores to the best of my knowledge: I hope you are applying elsewhere. That 77% is not going to help you.

Exeter does NOT superscore. They consider ALL scores. And an AO told us they weigh the writing sample very heavily.

And with a 93 total, I don’t think the 77 is that bad. It won’t help but there is math there for many levels. Not every 8th grader has been exposed to all the concepts on the test.

Not all boarding schools superscore…

YEs–but considering all scores is effectively superscoring even if they don’t give you one number: otherwise you would only get to submit one test. Math matters at Exeter. And this kid is already in 9th.

send in the first one. Do not send the second one. Math is everything in these schools. It is also the most important subject for college application. If your math is good, you can fit most majors such as computer science, EE, financial engineering, biomedical engineering and so on.

I just wanted to let you all know that I got accepted to Exeter, and I am honestly over the moon right now. All of your responses made me think that I would never be accepted, but somehow I managed to get in!

@essait I just stumbled across this thread today but congratulations! That’s awesome! =D>

congrats!!

You made it !!!

Just curious, OP, did you send in both?
