Hello. I found out that I need three subject tests to apply to Georgetown. During the summer of my sophomore year, I took Spanish Without Listening and World History. I scored 800 on both tests. Now I’m considering taking some more subject tests in the summer between my junior and senior year. I’m currently thinking about taking US History (I’m currently taking APUSH) and Literature (I’m current taking AP Lang). Do you guys have any advice for these tests? Do they look good to admissions? Should I take Math 2 (I’m currently in AP Calc BC) to stand out?
One of my kids had an 800 on Math 2 and an 800 on Lit, and I do think it stood out a bit. If you think you can get a high score on Math 2, showing that breadth is something not many applicants can do.
I’m not sure that breadth is something that most schools care much about with Subject Tests. Maybe it’s a feather on the scale (and probably just a hummingbird feather).
That said, I would not do USH as it’s a bit duplicative. M2 or Lit are fine. Personally, I would lean more toward M2 just to cover the diversity bases. Be aware, though, that you might need to do extensive review, since M2 tests “only” up to precalc, and you might need a refresher on earlier concepts. Good luck.
Maybe get a science/math in there to seem well-rounded. M2 is a good idea or maybe physics/chem/bio if you’re more comfortable.
M2 with studying actually seems easiest to get a good score on. The material is more self contained.
I think math 2 and one science should be good
