So I found out today I got into USC's film program for screenwriting...and I was so happy. Definitely did not think I'd get in, I've heard they're very competitive. I've been thinking I'd end up at Chapman because they accepted me months ago, and I've done a lot of research that points towards Chapman being just as good for film as USC. What do you guys think? It's difficult because Chapman gave me a big chunk of scholarship, and I don't know how financially I'm going to pay for USC. Is USC worth it?

visit both schools and personally i would choose which ever school you would graduate from with less debt. in the film industry its all about opportunity, whenever you get your big break it want matter what school you went to

^^ I second that. Lots of people have this totally misconstrued idea that the more you pay in college, the more ‘successful’ you will be when you get out. No. It’s all about connections, opportunities, and very little with how prestigious the school is, although sometimes you get more connections from them. Pick which one you feel you like more, works better for you, and steals a little less from your wallet.

I would choose Chapman.

The benefit of going to USC is that you’ll be working with the best and brightest film students from all over the country, and will get connected through your classes and events to many people working in the film industry. These connections are very useful for finding internships and future jobs.

Plus, USC just finished a bunch of new facilities for the film school, and are working on finishing some more.

Basically, USC is the big player in LA that has a huge web of connections directly into Hollywood.

What is the difference in costs between the two?
