My alcoholic father or being an immigrant coming to america?

In my opinion, I would say immigration. A lot fewer people have the opportunity to write about immigration and repercussions or advantages. Unfortunate as it is to say, many people have parents with alcoholic tendencies which tends to make it a generic subject.

Is there a way I could mesh my father being an alcoholic into me being an immigrant ?

Well, it all depends on the story you’re going to tell. I don’t see a reason why you wouldn’t be able to as long as it flows.

alcoholic father for sure. take the ‘person who influenced you’ and use one very detailed anecdote about his negative influence (or positive, whichever.) honestly, most immigration papers go ‘i moved, it was hard at first, but i adapted so it’s all better now.’

Is there a way to combine them together, because less people are immigrants and they probably have a lot of alcoholic parent storys

It’s definitely possible to combine the two.

How would you combine the two?

I was thinking about writing about an alcoholic father…but I’m worried that someone would see it and contact my family.

If you wanted to focus on your immigration, you could write about what this country became for you, what your new home was like (that includes your alcoholic father) and in the end, what you learned from the whole experience. What place to you call home? What opportunities and disadvantages has your life in the USA brought you?
just food for thought.
