Which type of papers does MIT prefer, theoretical ones or engineering ones?

I am applying for MIT and I wrote several papers on computer science. Some of them focus on theoretical problems, while the others focus on engineering ones.

The problem is that MIT recommends its applicants to submit only one paper. I think it would be helpful if I target at the “sweet spot” of the school.

Well, since they are the MIT “Engineers”, I would target that directly.

Which paper will better help convey to the MIT adcoms who you are and what makes you tick? That’s the one I’d submit.
