I stayed with the WIHN last year, and I can tell you that cheapest options for both the WIHN and WISH are already sold out with waiting lists. Look on Craigslsit or AirBnB for cheaper and better quality options

Here’s some statistical math I wanted to share with everyone. From what I can tell from press releases and articles, historically the White House usually picks 150 summer interns out 1,000 applicants. This means that there is a 15% acceptance rate for the White House internship. Thirty-one applicants have posted on this forum since it was opened, and only two have been accepted into the program. That means this blog has a 6.5% acceptance rate. So statistically, a few more of us will likely be accepted.

I have read that past administrations have done wait lists. Do you know if this administration does something like that? If so, how many people do you think are going to be put on it?

I haven’t. Do you guys think that their staggering the acceptance emails because of the time it takes to set up a registration portal for each intern’s individual background check?
@firefly333 thats a good question, I’ve been wondering what the possible reason for this staggering could be. And its 5pm and I haven’t heard a thing.

@JoesphQuoppio I got waitlisted last year, I figure it was because I disclosed that I had already committed to another internship. It was annoying because I had to do all of the background check sf86 forms without even knowing for certain whether or not I would be accepted.
@beejgod did you get accepted? How long did it take for them to get back to you?
