White House Internship

So I got the interview email a few weeks ago, but still haven’t heard anything from any department. Are others in the same boat? Any more word from any departments today?

Nobody has heard anything???

has anyone heard anything since interviews? I check this thing 50x a day for some scrap of information. Please say something!!!

i never got an email for an interview. i am assuming i am not in the running. i haven’t heard anything since the “week of July 6th” email.

I haven’t heard anything since my interview two weeks ago. But my interviewer did tell me that we should expect to hear “on July 7”–which would be tomorrow. So even though the email says this week, I am hoping we will all hear something tomorrow.

The interesting thing is I think several people got the “potential interview” email but were never interviewed–is that right? If so, I think the big question looming out there is whether these people are still being considered or whether an interview is a prerequisite for getting the job.

Since each interview is being handled by each specific department, it sounds like it could be possible for people to get the job without an interview. Plus, I think there are others out there who got an interview without first getting the “potential interview” email.

So basically, we have no idea what’s going on  And all we can do is wait. A serious good luck to everyone!

A very reliable source told me that they have already chosen the next internship class…it’s all a matter of what day they decide they want to tell us.

Given that they have completed the selection process, I’m hoping for tomorrow. pins and needles

georgewashington- i can hear the hysteria in your tone lol. welcome my friend, we have flag shaped cookies :P

lol to what Red-Robin said  I’m in the same boat as anydaynow, so I am expecting nothing more than a rejection. I just want to get my rejection letter already! But I really hope I am wrong about what my instincts are telling me. Good luck!

Who is the reliable source? How reliable? How many people have they admitted?

Holy ****. So that call I just got might actually have been for the Internship. It just JUST occured to me that this was possible. I only re-applied in Fall semester because I wanted to have my hat in the ring just in case. I was expecting calls for a million other things, but not that.

I was about two seconds away from accusing the guy on the other end of the phone of being a friend of mine playing a trick.

But I decided to play along. After I hung up I realized that it was way too early in the morning for him…

So I guess I have an interview…?

congrats blarg! can’t be a bad thing to get one. although im slightly confused on whats going on lol. Oh well, we’ll all know our fates by at least the end of the week!

apatel1: i by no means want to give the impression that I know much more than anyone else. I just thought it would be helpful to pass along the information. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to believe it or not.

i’ll have limited internet access for the rest of the week (I know, HORRIBLE timing!). but ill post my verdict when I get it. Good luck guys! :)

Did you just realize that you received a phone call about an interview? To my knowledge, the WH usually sends an email telling candidates they may have an interview, and only phones the individual to conduct that interview. Since interviews have passed, I am a little confused.

So far, the only one mentioned was communications. Where else have people gotten phone calls from?

One call set up the interview, later in the day they called again to do the interview (around 4). No specific office was mentioned. But I did get a WH internship email this afternoon as well completely unrelated to the interview process. Arrived around 3.45est.

You got an email today??? Did it state if you got the internship or not??? What was the email about?

I got the email before my interview even started. It just asked to confirm DOB and SSN, but (and I don’t know if this was accidental) it also included CCs to the internship coordinator’s staff email and her current intern…

Did they tell you anything about when we would hear a decision? Who did you interview with? Do you know what department? Thanks for sharing this valuable information!

Still said end of the week. Don’t know who exactly the interviewer was. No particular department was mentioned.

hey, i’ve been lurking around here and i got some useful info, so i figured it was time to give a little information myself. i applied late, got word i would be interviewed two days ago, got the interview today. went fine i think - the guy was a short and the questions all sounded prepared. he told me the end of the week or early next week for a decision. asked me for my preferences for departments, but he clearly wasn’t calling from any particular office.

the thing is, i’m not a college student or a student at all, i’m actually a law school graduate (yes, the job market is really that bad right now) so… i’m not necessarily 100% sold on taking the internship if it is offered. i’m curious for people who are currently working a WH internship how much you think the internship is helping your permanent job search. this would be totally worth it for me if it led to full time employment, but maybe not worth it if it didn’t…

Hello. It is somewhat reassuring that the interview process is still ongoing for those of us who haven’t heard yet. Satya232, I am confused. If you are not a current student and are not certain you’d like a position, what motivated you to apply for an unpaid internship? How late did you apply? I haven’t been lurking here long, since I only stumbled across this thread this afternoon, but I think it’s done equal measures damage and help to my already frayed nerves. It’s going to be a long weekend if we don’t hear by Friday.
