I was surprised by the half inch thick book i got from yale today, I know it doesn't mean anything but its thickness was quite ridiculous, biggest college info packet i have got so far.

Hmm, hope I get one. Yale’s one of my two top schools right now.

I did too. I like the format =)

please please please name it something else? For a couple exhilarating seconds till I opened this thread I thought you guys were talking about the coursebook… so please? :)

I don’t think they mail out the coursebook until later this summer. The current blue book is about an inch thick, not half an inch.

I got it yesterday. Probably the best college information packet-thing I’ve gotten so far, and that’s saying something.

I’m in California, so hopefully I get it today or tomorrow (:

I have not received one.

I received one, though I don’t know why! I’m not on their mailing list and my PSAT scores are not good enough for Yale.

Okay, I still haven’t gotten mine yet. The mailman has come and gone.

S got it yesterday and yes, it is impressive. Between that and the UChicago mailing, I’ve had lots of good reading!

When I was a student, the course catalog was not available online but only in the blue book form. For me, the day it arrived was like Christmas morning! I’d plow through the listings and have a legal pad beside it. I’d highlight courses and juggle things around – for both the Fall and Winter semesters! It was like being a kid in a candy shop.

For you prospective students, look over that thing. Look at the titles of the classes. Look at the obscure, the profound, the off the beaten path classes. Imagine yourself in those classes – that’s what a big part of Yale is about.

I got it today. It’s the best mailing i’ve gotten of the schools i’m interested in.

There are two books being discussed here.

1) The actual “Blue Book” (or the Yale College Programs of Study) that lists all the courses available for the coming year, which enrolled students receive during the summer.

2) A (thinner) blue book for prospective students, which my younger sister received in the mail yesterday as well as the OP. It’s Yale’s admissions viewbook.

I got it today ! It is is one of my favorites and it’s to bad I will never get accepted :(

Ooops. I thought Yale was sending out the course catalog. Never mind…

(I still get a copy b/c I’m a recruiter/interviewer!)

I got a letter in the mail, but got the blue book when I visited their campus.

I got it.
Who got the Harvard mailout with the app in it? And was anyone else amazed at how thick that app is? It occurs to me that I could hit someone with that and it would hurt him/her. lol.

I got it. It’s nice.

Has anyone from Southern California gotten it?
