blah, I lost my permit so I can’t drive at all.

I go to a small private school, so there is parking for anyone who wants it (2 seperate lots for junior & seniors)

I don’t have my liscense yet, so I usually get driven or catch the train (there is a shuttle from the train to my school). The train works out really well for me and I usually use it when I’m going to my friend’s houses on the weekend

assuming most of you guys are from the upper/lower middle class, i don’t see why your parents wont chip in a few k and buy you a car…especially if you’re a senior because it’s kind of a necessity.

thecalccobra: I bet many parents won’t chip in “a few k” to buy a car because 1) It’s definitely NOT a necessity (except maybe in a case like alamode’s) and 2) If you’re a senior, they’re probably paying way more than a few k for college next year. So why would they waste that money on something that isn’t as important as a college education?

How many parents have a few k lying around to “chip in” so their kid can get their own car?

It’s a luxury, and for most, not necessary. I’m a junior without a permit even because my parents wouldn’t pay for insurance / I have no job / I don’t really need it.

Wow, my parents expect me to pay for at least half of the cars cost/insurance/etc.

This is why, everyday after track practice, I walk the 4/5 mile or so to the train station.

my life sucks soo much

i hate taking the bus :(

i don’t have a car but we have the NYC subway…so it’s all good lol

I rode my bike to school just about every day from 7th-10th grade, and had I think three of my bikes stolen in that time…you don’t need a car. oh yeah and winter goes from October-April and it hasn’t been warmer than 35 in a reeeaelllly long time. the only parts that really get cold are your face and your hands.

…and a ten year old honda is ten years newer than my car. you want a car? find something easy to work on like a SBC, or a panther car…i.e. something old fashioned with room in the engine bay for human hands… with something wrong with it that doesn’t require special tools i.e. brake pads or blown head gasket and FIX IT. shouldn’t cost you more than $500 total. if you were desperate to drive that’s what you’d be doing. but you are content to whine soooo by all means, whine. get it out of your system now so there will be no more whining when you enter the real world. deal?

oh and if getting dropped off by your parents is embarassing/social suicide…well, think about it. if you had friends, then one of them would probably give you a ride. you don’t have a social life to kill, fool!

/rant.

p.s. buy this car: [1976 Volvo Stationwagon 245 DL](http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/car/605942318.html)

No having a car does not make your life suck, if you think that, then your gonna experience some things that really make your life suck…

I agree 100%.

Seriously man,

Hahahha. Yahhh, lemme tell you that’s hilarious. Of course, poor you, not having a car. I feel really bad for you. Especially when, you know, about 3 billion people in the world are living BELOW the poverty line. Yes, feel bad because you don’t have a lexus in HIGH SCHOOL.

And don’t worry. I am sure people sympathize with your pain. Like him:

I am sure he does.

I am sure he feels really bad because you don’t have a lexus.

i can’t drive, nor do i want to, nor do i own a car (altho my parents have 3 cars so im sure if i wanted one they would give me one?)

the day i get into the driver’s seat is the day i will die

psh. my school there are more BMWs than the local dealership. seriously we counted. and i think everyone has a lexus, even if they don’t drive it, since they drive their BMWs (does htis make any sense). and there are maybe about 20 benz convertibles in the parking lot.

I drive a 2006 Nissan Altima

A good portion of the kids at my school drive their parents’ old Merecedes or BMW…

Not much a car can do for you if you don’t have friends. Anyways i’m not expecting a car anytime soon and if i did it would be with no help.

Since I got a car (my father’s old Focus) I started to get late for work and practices. In fact, I missed track practice today because of the traffic which sucks :(

Cars are evil.

Carpooling is less harmful the environment anyway. My friends and I all have cars and parking spaces, but we take turns driving to school together anyway since we live really close. Would it be possible for you car-less people to set up a system like that? It’d probably be easy, if everyone really does have a Lexus but you.

My parents have been promising me a car since I don’t know how long…but I don’t mind. It’s not like they OWE me a car, no one really needs one. It would be nice to have one tho
But at least the bus is free, lol. And if i had a car i’d have to pay for my own gas, which would suck.

a parent’s perspective: teenaged drivers have many accidents–mri studies show that the brain isn’t fully myelinated until 21. (we worry about you)

hahaha I have a car. It’s a 1990 Ford Festiva, arguably the ugliest car you ever did see. That’s the year I was born. It’s really good on gas, but I hear they discontinued them because the safety ratings were significantly below average.

I’m too lazy to get my permit and liscence ![]()
Public transportation + mooching off other people + walking is what I do.
But sometimes I really wish I could legally drive. Had to add the legally.
