I was going to take a couple of courses at community college but that plan backfired lol, so I'm turning to EPGY. I'm thinking of taking Calc 3 at the community college (EPGY rips u off...separating it into two courses...). I'm thinking of taking Modern Algebra or Quantum Mechanics. Modern Algebra is cheaper though so I might go with that...but I really want to learn QM =). Anyways, who here has done EPGY classes, and how easy/hard is it to get an A in them?

ignore the part about QM lol

I took Physics B through EPGY two years ago. If you keep up with the course content, you should do fine. The professor is actually quite helpful and replies to the emails I send him. My course was very structured with detailed schedules, testing...etc. It is to be noted, however, it's quite difficult. I think Physics B covered far above the scope of a normal AP class. I got a 68 percent on the final, even though I understood the problem sets and most of the tests/quizzes. I ended with a B+ in the course.

wow...that sounds kind of scary about the final
I have another question about how the classes are structured...it says the class i want to take is 2 terms. Does that just mean I have 6 months to do the course? Also, did u have a "take home" final or was it online or something? the class I want to take has a "take home" final.

I don't remember how the terms were structured.

The final was a "take home" final with time limits (I think it was 2 or 3 hours). You technically could cheat, but I didn't feel that it was right to do something like that. I didn't really mind the grade actually, I just wanted to see how I would do in AP Physics (and ironically, the course is much, much, harder than normal Physics B =/ It's Physics: Mechanics at Stanford I think, so the calibre is above normal AP courses).

I took Algebra I through EPGY ten or eleven years ago. Getting the A+ was trivial -- when I first tried taking Algebra I in a (semi-) normal school, I got failing grades on the final exams. Moral of story: Don't be deluded into thinking an A in an EPGY course means you actually know anything. Make sure your background is actually solid (maybe you could get your hands on a copy of a normal university's final exam, or something like that).
