Then the SAT did its job. You got a low score, and thus the SAT pointed out that you don't work as quickly as students with high scores. Nothing wrong with that at all, except blaming the SAT for doing its job.

If you're a really slow test taker, skip the hard problems. Go back to them if you have time. You will still come out with a very decent score even if u leave like 10 blank

I didn't. I didn't even make it to 1000. But oh well. Whatever.

this thread in general is stupid. it is completely biased. basically those who did good on sat say they LOVE it and those that did bad on it say its stupid. how about we got information from say a 13 year old who has not taken this test yet and then we see could ACTUAL results.

How would a 13 year old who hasn't taken the test know if he "likes" it or not. I'm sure no one really likes the test. Most people would rather be doing something else. They just understand that a good score is somewhat important to accomplishing their goals. Whether we like it or not, SAT scores are a factor in college admissions.

The SAT and ACT are definitely NOT stupid. Sure, they are not perfectly accurate indicators of one's academic achievement but for a country that has such a decentralized and heterogenous schooling system, there needs to be some factor that colleges can use to compare students from different schools (which may have great disparity in the level of difficulty in the coursework, etc...) The SAT/ACT may not be perfect, but nothing in this world is. So far, it has been the best tool that colleges are able to use to compare applicants from various parts of the country. I'm sure if a better indicator can be found, it will be employed, but for now, the SAT/ACT, despite some inequities, is still the surest way to go.

Besides, one's SAT/ACT score is only one of a multitude of things the adcoms look at, so it alone is not indicative of one's chance of admission but rather is a factor that the adcoms look at in making their decision regarding the whole application.

Exactly--the SAT is an objective measure of how well you take the SAT, and not much else. And Grad'06, I got a 2320, so don't write me off as another "biased" student.

Just because you don't do well on it, doesn't mean it's stupid. Even if you do well in school and you do poorly on the tests, maybe it means either you didn't study enough or your school has grade inflation and your capabilities just are not at the level that you think they are at. So don't get angry and call the test stupid.
