Secretly, it's quite obvious.

this is a very stupid question altogether. who the hell likes the ACT or SAT besides chinese people?

LOL. Page 6. Finally.

Koreans! And people who score well!

Why do they live in the library over spring break? Seriously, every spring break before I leave they are still in the library studying when other people are just on the computers before they leave.

in my opinion nearly everything collegeboard does is stupid. it’s like one day they decided “hey, instead of making actual contributions to our dying world, why don’t we steal people’s youth?”

The ACT and SAT are stupid, but that is why it is fun!

I think that was very well said.

The main flaws I have taken not of in the SAT tests, especially the SAT 1 are the fact that they are multiple choice. I know people who have taken shots in the dark; shots which annoyingly enough have paid off…

People here who think the ACT and SAT are stupid are stupid in my opinion. Collegeboard and the ACT company don’t ask colleges to make their tests to be the most crucial parts of the application. The colleges do. You’re calling collegeboard stupid when all they are doing is creating and offering tests that COLLEGES REQUIRE.

@fedcba, Right, because Collegeboard is now forcing students to take their standardized tests. You really don’t know what you’re talking about. As I stated above, which obviously never crossed your mind before, COLLEGES are the ones that require all these standardized tests and high scores. Collegeboard simply offers the test. If anyone deserves such hate, then it’s the colleges for having test requirements.

Not to say I hate colleges or collegeboard, I just really dont care/

@cortana431: You’re right, Collegeboard is not completely at fault. I do also hold resentment toward colleges because they make our scores on these standardized tests so important in the admissions process. However, I will step up to the fact that I am a hypocrite because I go along with whatever they want me to do and I play the game and I take these tests in order to score as highly as possible so that I can go to these colleges that give so much respect to Collegeboard and their tests. I play the game because I do believe that once you get into college the tests you take and the work you do becomes less and less trivial and more meaningful. And yes, this thought has crossed my mind many times before but that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to continue to complain about the ridiculousness of it all. I have a right to be frustrated with Collegeboard AND the college admissions process but instead of complaining about all of the things in the world that I have a problem with I thought I would stick to the point of this thread instead.

“I hate how you can work extremely hard during high school and then one day at a test center can make or break your chances.”

It takes more than SAT scores to make or break your chances. You need good grades, ECs and some smokin’ essays.

i absolutely hate the SAT. i scraped my ass for months studying for it and i was so confident taking it and thought that i would get a good score… i ended up bombing it. the SAT’s are the only think keeping me from getting into the schools i want and should be able to get into. the sat’s are a load of bull. i honestly had no motivation to study for it this summer and i have a month and a half until the next one… ■■■. like i’m a solid A-/B+ student and it just kills me that the SAT is ruining my chances of getting into my dream college.

honestly the sat in no way measures your intelligence there are people who didn’t even study for it and take regular classes and blow off their homework and still manage to pull a decent score out of their ass. it just really bugs me because it’s unfair.

i do more in school and e.c.'s than half of the kids at my school and who don’t give a shiit about getting into college and it just kills me that some colleges won’t even consider me because of my sat score. i don’t mean to sound like a total biiitch when i say this but it’s true.

like i understand math and it comes easy to me school wise- like i literally ace every math test but when it comes down to the SAT… it just all goes downhill. and it only goes up to alg. 2.

i can rant on and on about this…
