I have two kids attending UF, one is in grad school (but went there for undergrad as well) and one who is a sophomore. All I can say is that they both really love it there. Like with any schools, there are pluses and minuses, but they love all there is to do and the fact that they both came to UF with 30 hours of credit from high school.

FSU was also being considered by us and is another great state university. I would think the main thing is to decide if you are interested in your child attending a large, public research university. Then either one could work quite well. If you are looking for a small LAC, neither of these schools will fit the bill.
I am new here, but would be happy to answer anything about UF.

My son is a senior at UF with a major in EE and math.....and is currently applying to grad schools for a PhD. In his words, "it will take a great offer from a top-5 program" for him to consider leaving....otherwise he will be back in gainesville next year. And even with such an offer, he may stay regardless....he has enjoyed it that much.
