^ they haven’t received the budgets yet. So no one has award letters. Student planning said they ‘hope/excpect’ them to go out late April… I’ve been waiting since march 5th…

No news at all on my side either.

actually, I take back my previous comment, turns out my award letter was mailed march 31st, it just sitting in a pile of business mail - got the average amount - columbia is gonna be expensive, not sure if i’m going to be able to do it…

anyone else get a scholarship amount?

Hey,

For those admitted and or familiar with the program, is Columbia concerned with the quality of classes taken or strictly GPA in terms of transcripts? I know Columbia is really pressing a good essay and extensive life experience, but I am concerned because of my lack of english/math classes at my community college. Mind you, I am following the track of an econ major so my classes are not easy

I applied to Columbia out of community college after having taken math classes from basic math through pre calculus and got in. GPA is important, but academic rigor takes precedence. They would rather see somebody who takes the hardest classes possible and gets A’s and B+'s than someone who scoots by with easy classes and gets all A’s. I cannot stress enough the importance of the essay. A stellar essay can explain away sub par grades, but excellent grades are no replacement for a great essay.
