As these 2 applicants have very good stats, I think that in the end admission will be decided by the demonstrated interest for that college and , the most important thing, the WHY essay. If you have a killer why essay, your chances are very high. I think I do have examples for this attitude of colleges.
Anyway, good luck! And remember, admission is sometimes random ;)

One of SEVEN varsity captains? That's almost half a squad.

I work in the field. Given the number of qualified Asian students, some schools no longer consider Asians when considering diversity. Also, three years with GSA should definitely be mentioned if the college is not too conservative, especially if affiliation occurs in rural New Hampshire, since that says a great deal about the student's willingness to act on his convictions.

^ you mean they don't even consider the fact that they are asians anymore? they just treat them like any other caucasian candidate?

or do they tend to admit less asians in...?

^ could u tell that about the white kid just by looking at the application?
Apparently.

I vote for asian kid, both have close grades, asian kid seems to show more passion, sat scores don't even mean that much at most schools

^ but i thought that SAT scores are huuuuge in the ivy leagues.

2050 and a 2290 = huge difference, isn't it?

No, asians arent given any extra consideration because they are not underrepresented.

-The asian guy would probably have a better chance, more awards/dedication/talent.

Yep I vote for the Asian guy too. His ECs show heart while yours are run-of-the-mill.

I hope you can do well at your interview without conveying arrogance...

This looks to be a hypothesis, or at least half of it because you couldn't have known all the details about another kid to the point of how many teachers like him and for what reason...etc. If you are kid#1, the details about yourself are well presented, but how did you get all inside scoop about kid#2. Same the otherway around. If this is coming from a third party, how did you come up with same level of information from both candidates ?

Finally, it doesnt compute you got the asian kid who sucks at math :)

I would have to say that college admission is a case-by-case basis.

Their majors should be considered.

If both wanted to be engineers, I would say out of the question because they have little science background to support their interest.

I don't think the "Asian kid's" SATs are that bad. His math score is quite low though.

For both, Harvard and Brown would be reach schools.

The Asian student has excelled in speech, which could be a major plus for him, as opposed to the Caucasion student who has not earned much success in speech. The Caucasion student would be a more viable candidate if he were an amazing athlete and would apply as an athlete compared to the Asian student who is a lackluster athlete.

I must conclude that the Asian student has a better chance compared to the Caucasian student because he has done well in speech, band, and theater, despite being terrible at soccer. Dedication, perseverance, and service are more readily evident in the Asian student, so I must choose him.

That and how would the admissions people know that he's terrible...all he has to do is make the team.

^ we are in the same everything, so im there when he receives awards, and i just remember them really well.

all u have to do is sound curious and ask them about their scores / grades, and they'll tell you. then u just have to congratulate them afterward so that they aren't suspicious

though we aren't straight up friends, i always know what he does. keep your friends close, your rivals closer.

Wow. Conniving little brat aren't you? Have fun in college.

^^ lol! I was thinking along those lines, too. xD

The asian kid's low SAT scores (compared to everything else) show big grade inflation.

2050 isn't low.. and maybe he is a hard studyer, lol i know there are people who get like 1200s and are billionaires, so you shouldn't base success on Sats

anyone else??????????

So what were the results?

????????????????????
