Don’t worry :-). I got the same feeling when I was watching The Social Network and thinking about Zuckerberg in all his Facebook glory. And to think that it all started from a Harvard College dorm! I’m not a CC expert at all (first post, woohoo) but 2390 is a great score but it really seems to me that Harvard geniuses aren’t all about scores/numbers. The real ones are people with genuine passion and out to make a mark in whatever field. I’ve got fairly mediocre scores for an Ivy, but I’ve got my fingers crossed!

No, Harvard isn’t just for geniuses. Yes, you’ll have a disproportionate amount of geniuses at Harvard, but many more will just be hard-working, bright students. Then add in all your hooked acceptances (excluding hooks such as I_O winners, Intel/Siemens, other prestigious academic awards) like athletes, URMs, developmental admits etc. and “geniuses” probably make up a very, very small portion of undergrads.

Mm, whether or not you are a genius isn’t determined by the SATs. Though this may sound rather cliche, your scores aren’t you.
On this topic, I don’t see why you would regret applying, unless the fee was a problem.

Why would anyone regret applying to Harvard? The worst that can happen is that you’ll be rejected. And if you are rejected you’ll be in exactly the same shape as if you had never applied. As Wayne Gretzky put it: you miss 100% of the shots you never take.

I do not regret applying there.
But I will be sad if I don’t get in (hope my passion shows in my application)
haha. in life, its best just trying, even if it seems futile. :P

I do regret applying to Harvard, not because I have practically no chance of getting in (although that’s true) but because I have realized that it would not be a good environment for me. If I hadn’t applied to Harvard, I would have applied to Washington University in St. Louis, which might be a better environment for me. But I could only apply to so many schools because of money and time.

I regret applying. Now everyone knows that I’m applying and they all think I’m getting in, and no matter how much I tell them that they had 35,000 applications for 1,600 seats, they assure me “oh no, you’ll get in” because they don’t understand how truly competitive it is. I feel like I’m going to be embarrassed that I let everyone down after I get rejected.

^ lol, good point, but I don’t regret applying.

But everyone is like “[my name], you’re applying to Harvard?! You definitely going to get in! You’ve put in so much effort!” And I just smile thinking in the back of my head “ARE you KIDDING me?”, seeing it’s no use telling them for the 12!th time what I’m up against and the odds. I told one person about my endeavors, and everyone knows and gives me the look - oooo, he’s applying to Harvard!!..crap.
