<p>I know everyone on here has been saying that the limit for the commonapp essay is 500 words--and they're probably right--but it never gives a limit anywhere on the common application itself. Therefore how could someone be penalized for writing more than 500 words when there's nothing to indicate that there's a limit?</p>
<p>No… but they follow the assumption that long essays will be tedious to read. There’s no limit. You can write long if you feel that’s your style.</p>
