who should i get outside letters of reccomendation from?

alot of my friends are getting letters of recs from people associated with the schools i and they are applying to, as my family has no friends associated with the school (gladchems). I am at a loss as to who I could get recs from and I am afraid my friends are getting an edge over me with these recs, my teacher recs are good, and I got recs from all my academic teachers. Wht kind of person is right for me to get a letter of rec from and why?

You only need a rec from current math and english teachers and Hd. of school. Optional recs are from coaches or persons involved w/ECs. Having too many recs may not be a good thing.

Schoolkid, if you’re talking of letters from trustees or prominent alums, I don’t think you should worry about the “recommendation competition.” Unless your friends are their babysitters or godchildren, it’s unlikely the prominent people know your friends well enough to make a difference. It’s a favor done for the parents, but you shouldn’t lose sleep over it.

If you need to get a recommendation from someone not connected to your school, choose someone you know well, who can attest to your good character.
