Just curious... what if you're really bad at pull-ups? What other exercises can you do to work those muscles?

If you're really bad at something, and want to improve at it....all you can do is to do it as much as possible.

My BGO suggested I get one of those pull-up bars that you can put in your doorway. I did, and now I do a few each time I go in and out of my room. Let me tell you, it has helped considerably.

yeah, a pull-up bar in the door way is a great way to go, i got one and its a great way to work on the pull ups

Yeah, want to get better at pull ups? Do more pull ups.

Two tips:

1) you can hold the bar longer if you put the thumb on top of the bar and do not wrap it around. (Palms away!)

2) when you can not do anymore pull ups grab on to the bar (if it's not too high) jump up so your in the up position and slowly lower yourself down, count to five slowly. These are called negatives and are great if you can not do any pull ups or after doing a 100 pull ups and can't do any more. Same goes for push ups.

If you can get someone to help you, a good technique is to do your max, then have your buddy assist you in doing 5 or so more (by either grabbing you around the waist and pushing you up or pushing on your shins).
