When do you use who and when do you whom? I am confused. :(

who is used in the subjective case

whom is used in the objective case

ex, Who went to the party?

For whom is the book?
hope that helps

My 11th grade English teacher said to rewrite the sentence and see if “he” or “him” is appropriate. If “he” works, then you use “who.” If “him” is correct, use “whom.” I know that’s saying the same thing as amy2525, but I could remember it better this way.

You would say, “He went to the party,” so “Who” is correct. “The book is for him,” so use “whom.”

just to be clear, the sat doesn’t test who/whom (99% sure)

Yeah, the SAT doesn’t test it. I’ve read it in several books.
