i'm just wondering because sifting through the posts of people from HS class of 2010 i see a lot of people who are like "oh UT is my dream school, i would do anything to get in!" and i can relate.

but then their decision gets back. CAP'd. and they're like "oh well i'll just go to A&M" ... why? if it's your dream school, why can't you "settle" with a satellite school for one year? is one year at a different school really that much of a sacrifice to spend the other three years at your dream school? is it a pride thing? is it "either i get into UT the first year or i'm not going"?

i'd accept CAP in a heartbeat. i only applied to UT and UTSA because UT is MY dream school and with CAP i know i'd go one way or another. whatever gets me into UT. i'll probably have to go to UTSA, live at home, and work so i can go to/pay for UT the next year. yeah it'll be a bummer at first but i'll get over it. it's just 25% of my undergrad college life. i would like to start off at UT of course, but as long as i get to stay there for most of it, i'll be happy.

how about you? if you get CAP'd will you go somewhere else you were accepted or no?

I was going for Baylor in the beginning of the year. Then I switched my decision over to A&M. But to be honest, I only decided on those two because I had a feeling I wouldn’t be accepted to UT. I finally realized that UT is the only school I want to graduate from (Well Harvard would be nice, but that ain’t happening). So, I applied to UTA and UT, sucked up my dignity and I’m ready to be Cap’d. WHERE THE HECK IS MY REJECTION LETTER ALREADY?!?!?

I suspect that if you haven’t been accepted yet, you didn’t make the cut. They are probably preparing to update all the rejected App Check pages at the same time… I seriously used to check at least 5-10 times a day because I kept thinking I still had a chance. Now that there are only 5 days left for all decisions to be made, I have already lost hope. Bummer, but I have my heart set on UT so I’m definitely doing CAP program.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again… getting CAP’d is a blessing in disguise. I wasn’t CAP’d but I went to UTSA for a year and a half and then transferred. However, all of my friends were CAP and when I joined them at UT, they already had a group of friends from UTSA. If you get the offer to be CAP, TAKE IT! You get a year of classes that are honestly way easier than UT’s, you get to be way more relaxed than you would have been at UT and you will share a close bond with all the other CAP students.
