Yes, I have. What are futures bright??

bright futures is a florida based scholarship.

my major is electronic or computer engineering with the famu/fsu campus

I have a question about the recommendations to get into the pre-pharm program. here are the recommendations:
Four units of high school level math with a minimum 2.75 GPA in the following course equivalents:

* Algebra
- Calculus
- Geometry
- Trigonometry

i took Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, (college algebra), Analysis of Functions, (Pre-Calculus Algebra). The ones in parenthesis, I took at a local CC - dual enrollment. I’m not sure if I have all of the recommendations. In Analysis of Functions we went over basic Pre-Cal and Trig, but I’m not sure if that satisfies the recommendation. Should I take College Trig. this fall or spring?

Im at Famu now I think I like it. Palmetto phase 3 wasnt as good as I thought It would be though, but after decorating It turned out alright. My roomates llike to go to clubs tho, I’m not a club type person so I stayed home.The campus is very big, the buses that they have are helpful, but when its Friday, the buses dont run, its a long walk from the palmettos to the campus but atleast the palmettos are walking distance to a shopping mall, walgreens and some fast food places tho. My financial aid still hasnt showed up, which I’m kind of worried about because I was depending on that to allow me to get my book vouchers. I hope it all turns out ok.

@diamond have you had the opportunity to see any other dorms?.. Im going to be in diamond… I will be up there next week for orientation.

@diamond
it could be because your application went under verification, like mine. and i had to print out a paper and email a copy of it along with my parent’s w2. so call and check or go into irattler and see.

Hey guys I was just wondering about orientation for anyones who’s already gone mine isn’t until July 13-15. I was curious about:
-The food (Is it good. Is it breakfeast lunch and dinner)
-Where we’d be staying (do we find out when we get there, is it the dorm we’ll be in for the Fall term if not is it atleast the same building ect.)
-If we do stay on campus for Orientation do we have a room mate? If so is it one or more?
-Are there any activities in the dorm to get to know people?
-What is the actual information that were gaining. (Will they be telling about the campus, the professor and what not?)
-Do you have to sign up or take the Accuplacer then? (I already know I’m required to take it -.- i suck at math…)
-Do we get our schedule there or do we get to make it?
-And do we have any Summer assingments?
-And are we required to bring sheets and pillows for the dorm? (If yes it has to be x-tra long sheets right?)
-And my most important question: Did you have a good time, learn alot and meet cool ppl?

And an Unrealed Question:
Does anyone know when AP scores come in?

@cdames92 nope I havent seen anyother dorms because they’re so far away from the palmettos but I heard diamond and wheatley are some of the best females dorms there. Atleast your closer to the campus, be prepared to do alot of walking in the heat. It’s going to be an exhausting sweaty day.

@kamFAMU14
Yea it did go under verification but I sent them the verification form and the W2’s like 2 weeks before I got here and theres still no financial aid being shown, all that’s available to view is estimated need.

@AliSans
-I dont know about the food, I stay in the apartments and make my own food or eat out.
-You’ll be staying in the dorm/apartment they assigned you on the rms.famu thing and it depends if you have a roomate or not, sometimes your roommate may not stay in their dorm for orientation they will be staying with their parents at a hotel until their parents go back to their home town.
The other questions will be answered in orientation. Just make sure you follow the schedule that they give you and you’ll be fine.
And yes you have to bring sheets and a pillow. The sheets are to be 66in by 96in.
Their also going to be giving you a little tour aswell so WEAR SNEAKERS AND DRESS COMFORTABLE!!!

NO I DIDNT HAVE A GOOD TIME. its sooooooooooooo true that they are unorganized it takes extreme patience and deligence, and my roomates are cool people.

I too was at the Pharmacy and health sciences orientation and it was FUN! I meet so many people and the performances were good.
Quick disclaimer: The answers will be first in all caps (dont get offended), but then towards the 4th question it wont be in caps but in the “answer” section.

Now to answer your question:

-The food (Is it good. Is it breakfeast lunch and dinner): YES IT IS GOOD, AND THEY SERVE ALL THREE (except the last day)

-Where we’d be staying (do we find out when we get there, is it the dorm we’ll be in for the Fall term if not is it atleast the same building ect.): YOU WILL FIND OUT WHERE YOUR STAYING WHEN YOU GET THERE, AND NO ITS NOT GOING TO BE THE SAME DORM YOUR GOING TO BE IN IN THE FALL (some people yes, but ALOT no).

-If we do stay on campus for Orientation do we have a room mate? If so is it one or more?: I HAD ONE ROOMMATE BUT MY FRIEND HAD 2 SO I THINK IT DEPENDS.

-Are there any activities in the dorm to get to know people?
ANSWER: no(not in the dorms) but the first day we played this game called “play fair” (it was played in the gym)which was very random and it gave a chance to meet alot of different people, like I said before it is extremely random, weird, and awkward but it is also fun. Your forced to step out your comfort zone.

-What is the actual information that were gaining. (Will they be telling about the campus, the professor and what not?)
ANSWER: the information is alot to be honest. Some of the things said you already know but I think your get out learning something new. Ummm, they give you info about the main bank they use (Wachovia is also a part of your rattler id card), meal plans, financial aid, police rules, irattler, scheduling, ect.

-Do you have to sign up or take the Accuplacer then? (I already know I’m required to take it -.- i suck at math…)
ANSWER: yes you do. We did it the second day there.

-Do we get our schedule there or do we get to make it?
ANSWER: You make your schedule (we did it the last day). The academic advisors will be there talking to you about certain courses, and you will be in front of a computer signing up for classes. ADVICE: Please use Ratemyprofessor.com to help get the good teachers (or your screwed when you start attending class)

-And do we have any Summer assignments?
ANSWER: they give you a book and they give you a sheet that tells you your assignment. (I lost that sheet soooo ).

-And are we required to bring sheets and pillows for the dorm? (If yes it has to be x-tra long sheets right?)
ANSWER: Bring sheets and pillows LITERALLY, when you go into the dorms the bed will be naked and if you don’t bring sheets and pillows your screwed. As far as extra long, well I just brung a sheet to cover the bed, a pillow, and a sheet to cover me when cold (dorm room can be VERY cold if you don’t monitor the AC)

-And my most important question: Did you have a good time, learn alot and meet cool ppl?
Like I said before I had a GREAT time, and I learned quite a few things. The best part was going to the Black Archive Museum and seeing The African American History, and Famu’s history as well. The buildings at FAMU look the same as it was back then when MLK was alive. Its really cool.

And an Unrealed Question:
Does anyone know when AP scores come in?
ANSWER: lol no.

When registering for orientation it asks if u want to add a guest for $75 .
what does their money pay for ? Do they get to stay on campus & eat for free too ? & why do they pay less!!!?? lol

They pay less because they DONT get to stay on campus and I dont think the meals are included, I’m not sure about the meals though… They get to have their own orientation schedule and you meet up and do some of the stuff together.

They have included meals for guests. As well as snacks, and information packets.

^^^ BUT You have to pay to get the meal plan, if you don’t pay, you can’t eat ;)

im still in the same situation. still no financial aid :(

for everyone who hasnt gotten there financial aid yet, go check. they all should be in this week if not there already :D

Anyone where I can find a complete list of the Gordon Rule requirements I found the math one but I can’t find the humanities, social studies, and general electives?

okay so i’m going into my senior year and I was wondering do I have a chance at applying to FAMU and what I can do to better my chances. I have :

2.96 unweighted GPA
19 ACT ( i’m a horrible test taker. I don’t know if I should attempt to take the test again)
Youth of the Year
Character Award
Varsity Volleyball
Honor Roll
Employment
300+ hours community service

any tips would be great, i’m the first in my family to go to college and i’m really nervous about applying. Thanks :)
