Who's applying to FAMU

and so rite now i would hav to score 23 on the act then according to this?

Yes, you would have to score a 23 to meet the minimum requirements if your GPA does not rise. But FAMU accepts the highest score from each sub section of the ACT (it is easier to have a higher composite score on the ACT this way).

Limited Access programs are majors that only accept a certain amount of students (which means there is greater competition and higher minimum requirements.) The limited access programs at FAMU are:

School of Business & Industry (Accounting & Business Administration)

* 2.5 GPA (as calculated by FAMU)

 • An SAT-I of 1450 (reading, math and writing) or an ACT of 21

School of Journalism & Graphic Communications (Pre-Journalism)

* 2.5 GPA (as calculated by FAMU)

 • An SAT-I of 1450 (reading, math, and writing) or an ACT of 21
 • ‘B’ average or better in English composition courses

College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacy-Undergraduate)

* 3.0 GPA (as calculated by FAMU); specific math and science courses

 • An acceptable test score on the SAT-I or ACT to be considered for the program

What would be a good major if i’m trying to go on to law school after college?

Maybe pre-law or political science would be helpful. But according to my research it doesn’t really matter what major you choose.

This is where I got my information from:
[Deciding on an Undergraduate Major Before Entering Law School - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com](http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/109514/deciding_on_an_undergraduate_major.html?cat=4)

Thanks alot. Are you a student at FAMU?

No Problem… No, Im not a student but I have been accepted fall 2010 and I plan on attending.

I am a Mississippi high school Senior… I applied to FAMU about a week ago [ i know… late-ish]… I have a 3.36 GPA , class rank #3, and a 26 on ACT [w/o writing]… my chances of getting in?

Your in… Unless its a limited access program which requires you to take certain classes… For instance pre-pharmacy, with this students need to take up to at least precal/trig

Did any of you guys get in without submitting recommendations?
I want to know what my chances are of getting in without them, since they are “strongly recommended.”
I have:
3.70 GPA; 3.30 unweighted
280 community service hours
Several academic awards
24 ACT(took it again,I should have my results by Monday)
1600/2400 SAT

Also,I submitted my application a little over a week ago.How can I confirm whether or not they have received it?Because I sent my stuff to at the same time to USF,they received it 2 days after, and I got admitted less than a week later.

Yeah, I didn’t submit any recommendations and I got in. You should call them to check up on your application status.

-short explanation on essays:
** Describe an activity, interest, experience, or achievement in your life (this could be a book, a movie, or an activity or experience at work, home, or school) that has been particularly meaningful for you: I wrote about how I have grown as an individual and how sports have contributed to my personal growth (From being shy and easily discouraged to confident and willing to try new things).
**How has your family history, culture, or environment influenced who you are?: I wrote about my family ethnicity and the morals that have been instilled in me. Also the fact that my family has brought out the best in who I am, and they have also shown me what I don’t want to become.

After seeing your credentials,I have considered sending the recommendations
I called today to ask about my admissions application and the lady said they have my application, but not my transcript. What perplexes me is that I sent the application and the transcript in the same envelope…

lmao! ah hahhaha. Did you tell her that?

I have had transcript issues with them. I sent the originally in October and I had too send them four more time before they finally go there the beginning of February I believe… And even then I had issues after they finally received them.

I told her about the fact that I sent them both in the same envelope, but she told me to hold on and then transferred me to some other lady.I tried to explain the problem to her,but she said “they take 3-4 weeks to get put in” or something of the sort.I gave up.I have heard about how disorganized FAMU is,but I thought everyone was exaggerating. After this,I don’t think I’ll go to FAMU even if I get admitted.I’m just going to go to USF.
FAMU’s cons far outweigh its very few pros.

@cdames92:You do plan on going to University of Florida right?

I got a letter today stating that FAMU hasn’t received my test scores, even though I sent my test scores to them every time I took a test.I’m getting frustrated with FAMU.I’m really about to lose hope and give up trying to get in.

@Ava999: No, I’m not going. When I found out I got accepted I was strongly considering going but they didnt offer me any money… Even UCF gave me 10,000 so I will be headed to the hill.

@henry18: Im sorry to hear that. Sometime you just have to keep calling and stay on top of them… Were your test scores sent before you sent in your application? Maybe they had no where to filee them since their was no application… I dont know… I had to call them EVERYDAY for almost two weeks before I had my things taken care of.

@cdames92: Yes,I sent them three scores well before I applied, and I sent them one after I applied. I will call on Tomorrow to see if I can clear anything out.

Yeah, there’s not much I can tell you… Maybe that has something to do with it along with their office issues… Good luck with that.

To me the wait was well worth it… But to each his own.
