Many of the top kids from my school are planning to apply to the same Ivy this coming year: will the admissions officers limit the number of kids accepted from each high school? ie. Am I competing directly against them?</p>

<p>Colleges have no official quotas, so you could all in theory be accepted. However, the number of students accepted from a single high school varies relatively little from year to year. So if no one in your school has gone to a given top school in years, it is highly unlikely that more than one student would be accepted there.</p>

<p>Do you have any idea how it’s determined whether a certain school seems to “like” a high school or not? My school has had multiple Harvards and Browns, but not a Princeton or Yale in as long as anyone can remember. Any possible reasons for this?</p>
