Why Andover?

andover’s viewbook is actually what put me off. i wish it hadn’t :(

How? I loved it

I didn’t like its formatting and I found it kind of bleh. not in a boring way but at the time I was feeling pro-exeter. darn me past self >.< !

does exeter not have a good language/english/humanities program?
because their course catalog seems extensive in these areas as well as the sciences and math.

It does have a strong program (Classics jumps out, but only because that’s my area of interest) in those fields, but Andover’s is generally seen as better (though faculty turnover makes me wonder how long this would last) in humanities than Exeter.

Right now i am really stuck between andover and exeter. I should probably just wait until i see whic obe I am accepted at (if any). my parents loved anodver but exeter seemed to have more of a social life and honestly i had the friendliest best tour guide there.
does anyone else feel like their tour guide kind of shapes the way they thin of the school?

I think that the tourguide may contribute. My Tourguide at Andover was the most enthusiastic person I’ve ever met!

as a parent, I don’t like what I am reading about the incidents against Andover students by town teens. At the tender ages they are in BS, and with all the freedoms they have to go into town, safety is a big issue. And there’s more opportunity for off campus parties with locals . . . Maybe those out in the boonies schools aren’t such a bad idea.

Good discussion. Hold those thoughts till you get the offer from Andover. Re-visit knowing what to look for, or forget it if it’s not your option.

I agree, Benley. I’ve been thinking this too… wait until you get accepted, then figure it all out. Prepare for the worst, hope for the best!
