Someone explain.

Where you see the value most dramatically is in the first year at elite colleges & universities. Boarding school kids make the transition seamlessly while others who are dealing with living away from home for the first time, time management issues, freed and a variety if lifestyle options, and increased academic rigor can struggle to make sense if it all–and succeed.

The work habits learned in high school never recede for the professional life ahead.

Monetarily, at the elite boarding schools u are getting $80k+ of value for $50k of tuition.

Then there are many advantages u just can’t put a price tag on…

Also its a whole lot easier to get into a good college if u come from a good hs

Not necessarily worth it for every kid, IMO. It depends on the kid’s interests and needs, and how well the local public school meets them.

I don’t come around too often anymore as our DC is in boarding school but now we are just looking towards college. For my child, I know they will be able to count on their abilities, whether that is academic, personal or other as a result of their boarding school experience. The changes we have seen aren’t necessarily academic but in maturity and poise when the chips are down. Those things were there to begin with, but DC isn’t afraid to show them now, they will do what they want, when they want however they can. Whatever that means. Does DC question their future? Of course, but they know they are prepared to take on any future. But my child isn’t every child and everybody puts a different value on this sort of experience.
