Why bc please help!

So basically, my choices are down to
UVA (University of Virginia)- Full scholarship
BC (Boston College)- 5000 Loans/ 2400 Work-Study/ 2500 Cash
USC (University of Southern California)- 5500 Loans/ 2500 Work-Study/ 2500 Cash

Money is a big issue, but if it is worth it I want to try my best to get to BC and USC.
I was wondering what school would be best for my situation.

I am looking for a place with
-good pre-med advisor/clubs/programs
-competitive student, but not too intense that it turns manipulative
-a personal teacher to student relationship (Of course I will put myself out there, but are the professors willing to help?)
-Pretty good support system in general
-Don’t really care about drinking/partying (Priority is academics now to get to medical school)
-reasonable grading system…Some schools set marks one how many A’s B’s…to give out? I know all three schools are rigorous, but I am willing to go HARD.
-a campus and dorms that are easily within distance to get to classes

I know UVA gave me a lot of money and the financial factor is leaning me towards UVA, but if USC and BC are worth it, I really would like to know about it. I feel like private schools are more supportive of the students in general…and UVA is a big campus, so it may be hard to go from one class to another to dorms etc…

PLEASE LET ME KNOW I have less than a week to commit!
Thank you very much!

UVa is a no-brainer. Save your money for med school. Yes, UVa is a public, but unlike the other top publics, Michigan and Cal, UVa is a lot more undergrad-focused. Yes, privates offer a lot of benies and can be “more supportive” but free is free. You are obviously low income, so even taking on $20k in debt should be avoided, particularly when the free choice is the #2 public Uni in the land.

Where do you live? You also need to factor in travel costs. (Between the two privates, I’d recommend BC over 'SC which tends to have quite a few premed gunners.)

btw: there is plenty of drinking/partying at BC and USC.

As an alum, it pains me to say this, but I agree–UVA no question. If it’s an academic scholarship to UVA that you have, even more so. UVA is one of the best undergraduate universities in the country, and I’ve heard amazing things about their honors program.

I live in Minnesota! So it will definitely be a new experience…are there significant differences about private and public colleges that will help/support me more??? Thank guys by the way for all he help!!

It pains me as well, but go to UVA. Excellent school. Great rep. Very popular on the east coast. Interesting tidbit: a friend’s son was accepted into a prestigious honors program, with scholarship, at USC this year, but was rejected from UVA. Go figure.

isaac: some smaller privates provide a lot of hand-holding, particularly with regards to advising. A public Uni may have excellent advisors, but you will have to take the first step to go meet with them; you’ll need to show more initiative to get ‘stuff’. As a medium-sized Uni, BC is somewhere in the middle.

Yeah…based on everybody, if I put myself out there UVA will be the right choice then  Thank you guys more feedbacks would be awesome! Thank you!

The only downside I see for UVa is the travel to and from. Charlottesville is not served by a major airport, so you might ask on the UVa thread how folks get to campus from Richmond airport?

How far is the airport?
