Why can't we take AP as a senior?

A lot of people are saying

"Don't take AP tests as a senior. It doesn't help you in anyway
except that the colleges will excuse you from their core graduation requirements."

Is this true?
So there's no point of a senior taking a AP test?

jeez.

They are saying that because you can't put them on your application/transcript. You should take them because they will see that you are taking an AP class and you will hopefully get credit for the exams.

Or you could take them to learn...

I agree with iin77. Also for credit. What's the point of not taking them? Saving a couple hours of your life? I can understand not going crazy studying for them, because doing badly would have no adverse effect, but why not just take it, and see if you do well?

Of course, we don't have to pay for our APs, which makes a difference.

The college can see your first semester grades and classes, depending on when your semester ends.

What...nobody says that. You take AP's every year for the same reasons: to get college credit and to look good to colleges. Your scores are mostly irrelevant when it comes to admission.

DID YOU KNOW THAT ONLY 1/4 OF THE POPULATION IS ACTUALLY READY FOR COLLEGE? DID YOU KNOW THAT MOST OF THIS 1/4 ARE STUDENTS WHO TOOK AP OR ADVANCED CLASSES IN COLLEGE?

I TOOK 5 APs SENIOR YEAR. EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T HAVE AP EXAM GRADES FOR THESE, IT STILL HELPED ME GET INTO COLLEGE. COLLEGES LOVE TO SEE STUDENTS CHALLENGING THEMSELVES- NOT TAKING THE EASY WAY OUT. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE YOU HEARD OF GOING TO PRINCETON WITHOUT TAKING ANY APs (IF THEIR SCHOOL OFFERED THEM)? NONE. ALSO BY TAKING THE APs AND TAKING THE EXAMS, YOU CAN STILL GET OUT OF A CLASS IF YOU DO WELL. IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT YOU TOOK THE CLASS SENIOR YEAR. BY CHALLENGING YOURSELF AND PUSHING TO BE AT THE TOP OF YOUR CLASS, YOU ARE PREPARING YOURSELF FOR COLLEGE AND THE REAL WORLD. YOU HAVE A HUGE ADVANTAGE WHEN YOU TAKE APs BEFORE COLLEGE. EVEN IF YOU DIDN'T TAKE THE EXAM OR DIDN'T DO WELL, YOU STILL HAVE THE BASICS WHILE SOME PEOPLE MIGHT NOT KNOW ANYTHING IN THAT CLASS

I SAY THAT IT IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR SENIORS TO TAKE APs, BUT ONLY IF THEY ARE UP TO THE CHALLENGE. THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE IN MY CLASSES THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN IN AN AP CLASS. MY TEACHER HAD TO DUMB DOWN THE CLASS SO THESE PEOPLE COULD AT LEAST TRY TO PASS. I WAS IN A REGULAR HISTORY CLASS FRESHMAN YEAR AND IT WAS THE WORST CLASS, BECAUSE HALF THE CLASS DIDN'T EVEN DO THEIR HOMEWORK OR ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER. I ENDED UP MOVING UP TO ADVANCED- BEST DECISION I EVER MADE. I NOTICED IMMEDIATELY WHEN I WENT UP THAT THE OTHER STUDENTS REALLY CARED ABOUT DOING WELL. THEY ASKED INTERESTING QUESTIONS AND I WASN'T STUCK BEING BORED WHILE OTHER PEOPLE EXPLAINED SOME STUPID EXCUSE FOR WHY THEY DIDN'T DO THEIR HOMEWORK.

APs ARE THE BEST EXPERIENCE. NOT ONLY ARE YOU SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE WHO REALLY CARE ABOUT SUCCEEDING, BUT YOU LEARN A LOT MORE THAN THE REGULAR CLASSES. I KNOW FROM MY EXPERIENCES.

you take APs during your senior year to prepare for college. if you do poorly on APs you still have a huge lead against those who didn't take 'em.

Colleges can see what courses you're taking senior year. It should look about as tough as your junior year or you'll look like a slacker who only does the minimum required amount to succeed, not exactly a good quality to show the Adcoms.

dont just do it to get into college, do it so you are prepared and will do well in college. even if you dont get the credit, a class should be a lot easier if you already had it in high school

Don't do it to get into college...Well..they're saying don't take the exams if you don't think you'll pass and get college credit. It's understandable but, I'm going to take them anyways just to see how much I learn.
