Why Dartmouth?

The only reason I've even heard of Dartmouth is, of course, because it's an Ivy. What entitles Dartmouth to this title? Why are you guys applying there?

The only thing besides it's Ivyness that I know of is it's relatively-heavy booze consumption for such a top school.

Of all of the schools I've visited (including ivy and non ivy) dartmouth has the friendliest and most laid back student body. All the students I met were super excited to be there and always went on and on about how great dartmouth is and how much they love being there. From what I saw, people at Dartmouth love having fun and love learning. Also, it doesn't seem competitive AT ALL which is a major plus.

Dartmouth has a certain culture to it. It's been drawing me in, and it's one of the fullest "feelings" I get from a college.

D-plan, location, the color, the people, the lifestyle, the fact that it's apparently the most nude/streak-friendly school. ;)

Dartmouth has by far the most community of any Ivy. Its professors are unique in their commitment to undergrads, and the students are fun-loving intellectual type people. There is heavy booze consumption at any school, but its a lot more fun to attend a party with many other students you know then spending $50 in a club with random people on the weekends. Most current and former students can't imagine having gone anywhere else.

Dartmouth is "entitled" to be called an Ivy because it's in the same collegiate athletic association as the other seven Ivy League schools.

1) I don't wanna pay good money to be taught by a TA
2) The outstanding undergraduate focus
3) The strong sense of community (drinking and non-drinking alike)
4) The Great Outdoors being integrated with the school's culture
5) The location is beautiful, isolated but thriving
6) The laid-back lifestyle of the students
7) Good grad school placement
8) Winter festival
9) Study abroad out the rear
10) Sophomore summers
11) Enormous dormrooms
12) Great food
13) A gorgeous campus (said it already, but it is)
14) The town of Hanover
15) A diverse student body

I know we all have our own personal reasons. If you feel the need to get a superiority complex regarding Dartmouth, don't apply there. We won't be losing any sleep over it.

We? Who said you were in any position to speak for Dartmouth?

Aside from that last apostrophe of bitterness, thanks for the input. I guess I'd have to visit Dartmouth to answer my question.

Sod

Two words: downhill skiing (I mean, plus all that other stuff)

Haha Willywonka! I think Wesleyan holds the title of most nude-friendly.
