I have a 3.67 unweighted GPA, and got 1520 on the SAT. I met all of CSUSB eligibility requirements. However, I got an email from them saying that I didn’t.
‘Upon through review of your Fall 2019 Cal State San Bernardino application we find that you do not meet admissions criteria’
I triple-checked my application, but my gpa was above their requirement and exceeded their requirements(requirements like 3 years of math, 4 yrs of english, etc.)
So any ideas in why i failed to get into CSUSB. I went to prepscholar and turns out that i had a 97% of getting in with my current stats. Based on this, im kinda getting scared that i wont get into any other colleges i applied to (ucs, other calstates, uiuc, etc)
Can you contact admissions and ask what is missing from your application?
https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/ would be the calculator to calculate GPA for UCs and CSUs.
Some CSUSB specific information can be found here:

No, the email said that i can apply for an appeal tho. But their website says that
an appeal must be based on the following criteria
Credit not considered during the initial review of the application
Miscalculation of transferable college credit
Applied to an impacted major and wish to be reconsidered for another major
Special/extenuating circumstances
Rather than appeal, per se, I would write them, cite your stats from above, and ask if it was simply an error (or a missing part of the application).
Definitely contact admissions…the CSU’s are getting tougher and tougher (along with the UC’s). Possibly an impacted major or error?
That makes zero sense. Your stats at first glance are even good enough to be within reach at UCLA. Something is amiss.
@Techjav: I noticed on your other post that you are an OOS applicant from Washington state. Did you all the a-g course requirements including 1 year of visual/performing arts?
Sorry, did you meet all the a-g course requirements??? Sorry for the typo? Definitely call admissions and get a reason for the rejection.
yeah i did one semester of fund of art during freshmen summer and the other one in sophmore semester
Yeah, i emailed them thanks for the advice
@Techjav - Yes, the UC/CSU 1 year of a Visual/Performing/Art requirement tripped up a lot of OOS. Not all art courses count toward the UC 1-year requirement. Our son had taken 3 art classes but only the Art Level 1 and Level 2 counted towards the requirement. The art introductory class, ‘Foundation to Visual Art’, did not count according to UC a-g list.
Hope you can find out the reason why.
I agree that it might be the visual arts requirement that is the problem. Among other things, the second semester has to be a continuation of the first. Here is some more info on the UC systems fine arts requirement:
https://hs-articulation.ucop.edu/guide/a-g-subject-requirements/f-visual-performing-arts/
Gentle reminder: This is CSU-San Bernardino, so I’m hoping you know that the school CSUSB is not UC Santa Barbara.
My friend is an admissions officer at UCSD and gets lots of panicked parents whose students got into other local colleges with similar acronyms but not UCSD. Just checking.
I am assuming that OP knows that this is CSU San Bernadino since the original post quotes the rejection from CSU San Bernadino. The issue is that if @Techjav doesn’t meet CSU requirements, they most likely do not meet UC requirements which are higher.
If the art requirement is the issue for CSU, it is also an issue for UC.
Did you hear back from admissions?
Yes, would love an update.
