Why do College websites make admission rules/process fo difficult

Heh, we should write a wiki and Dean J could link it from the admissions homepage!

malex: i replied there

cav: yes we should haha but then ppl would be lazy and not look at it and ask a question and then i would be even more annoyed

Dean J- Would it help to send in the application extremely early?

they read the apps all at the same time regardless of whether you sent it in 3 months early or the night before.

We start reading before deadlines...as soon as there are completely applications, we read them.

Whether your chances are better early or late is always debatable (are we inadvertently easier on people at some point?), but it would be of help for us if apps come in and are complete before deadline.

When everyone sends everything at deadline, our clerical staff is crushed by a mountain of processing work.

who knew?
do you really get people who send them in 3 months early?

I finished and sent all of my applications two months early so there should have been a few overachievers out there who beat me by a month.

There are always a few applications that are submitted on the very day that we go live with the online app website!

While I appreciate their eagerness, I worry that the essays they wrote in August aren't what they would write in November. A lot can change during the first few months of senior year.

Daughter had a goal to send everything in Nov 30th. She accomplished this task at all her schools and relaxed comfortably while friends were scrambling end of Christmas break, trying to get apps in before deadline.

Some people are just super-organized and compulsive when dealing with stuff like that, and some people present strong enough apps that the essays are more or less a formality.

There are students like that, Cav, but I've never seen a competitive application come in on the first day.

When can we start on the app?

Tomorrow...you heard it here first!

ha, I finished all of my apps before the end of august, not including essays, then worked till december on my essays. It wasn't that I put a lot of time into them, its hat I didn't have any time to work on them. I figured that was going to happen so thats wy I got the boring part out of the way.

The sites test your reasoning and patience skills - its the last test and most important test before you apply to that college
