Why do elite colleges keep sending me stuff?

I dont have elite stats (3.7 GPA, 2120 SAT, terrible subject test scores). I keep getting mail from harvard, dartmouth, yale, brown etc. I doubt I could get into any of those, so why do they waste time sending me catalogs and stuff?

Most of them send it to you because you opted to be in College Board’s scholarship and search system where you basically agree colleges can send you brochures and information packages. They don’t know anything about your GPA or test scores so it is mainly for outreach purposes

edit: honestly your GPA and test scores are fine though, so don’t sweat it

Because the more people who apply that they then reject, the more “selective” they appear. The more selective they appear, the higher their selectivity score in rankings.

I guess you don’t know anything about marketing. But "marketing’.
