I’m just curious, I know Chinese international students are everywhere, but the super rich ones are mostly in the east. Like Ohio SU, MSU, IU and colleges in NY etc. you rarely see them in the west. Why is that? What does those universities have that attracts them? I’m just curious, maybe I’m overthinking. But the the rich ones that has been on the news are always in the east. Maybe the east is more fun than the west. I’m a high school student and I’ve always been interested in universities in the east.(although that been said, I’ve got my eyes in some other ones too) Maybe it’s also because universities in the east are more famous and known. I mean there are so few known universities in the west, except UW and some colleges in Cali and Texas. And the east is way more fun than the west though. Just a personal opinion for me.
“so few known universities in the west”… Stanford? The entire UC system?
Ohio State, MSU, and IU are not really “east” schools either, they’re all midwestern schools like the UW system and UChicago.
Where are you getting the impression that “super rich” Chinese international students are in the east? There are huge Asian populations on the east and west coasts. Idk, it sounds like a weird question to me.
Most of the top East coast universities are much older than universities in the west though, which might be why they have an arguably more “prestigious” reputation.
Don’t know if you’ve heard of us, but we in California get boatloads of applications, given that China is just a boat ride away.
Have you never heard of
Stanford? USC? UCLA? Berkeley? UCSD? Harvey Mudd? CalTech? Pomona, Clairmont McKenna, all of the Cal States and UCs?
We’re pretty sure that those applications coming from Taiwan and Beijing originated within the Chinese culture.
lol. The OP may be relying on quotes in NY Times articles. Well they interview people close by. The northeast has the lions share of old time elite private colleges and universities that are close to NY Times interviewers. .
I think maybe once you graduate high school and go to collage on the west you’ll see different.
The main reason that Chinese parents send their kids to school in the U.S. is simple: better opportunity for employment after graduating with a U.S. degree vs staying in China.
I don’t know what you mean, the west has some good colleges and universities…
But maybe you were thinking of the Iviy League, since most of the schools on the east coast?
I’m sure you’ve read from all those comments, but the UCs are actually REALLY REALLY popular with Chinese International students.
^^^^Very!!!
