Why do so many international students try to go to the States for undergrad ?

^^ I agree!

Facilities, environment, exposure, involvement, interaction and above all, the style & quality of education!

P.S. "because america has the hottest girls...duh" @ sefago : Pretty dumb!

joke idiot^ seems they don't joke a lot in pakistan

Oops! My bad. =/

apology accepted

^ LOL :D
10char

sefago, you should go to Brazil for hot girls. lol
America for money. haha

^yeah I know...jeez but it was a simple joke...I was wondering why someone was asking such a ridiculous question considering the fact that the US probably has the best university system---or seems to have the best university system...I think media and peers have affected our perception and I don't have time to debate about the merits and demerits of the US system but it is pretty obvious.

This arguement that the recession is global is flawed. Yes, it is global, however, economies are shrinking at different rates. Canada has a very strong economy ATM (relatively). Our banks didn't buy into the sub-prime mess. None of our banks are in trouble (I'm talking about Canadian banks, not American/European ones with branches here). The US is shrinking twice as fast as us. And, of course, we have natural resources.

^Annotation: not shrinking that fast yet. If the US sneezes, the whole world gets a fever

New Zealand is also a case in point. Unemployment there is capped at under 4%, the lowest in the history of the country. Wow.

In My case because state schools, public schools and private schools are unfair here in Mexico.

To be in top Universities in Mexico u have to have "connections" with the official there, maybe be a legacy, have money and come from their "prep schools" which basically means that if u didn't go to one of their "certified" high schools then u have no chance.
Also, at most top public schools u have to be from not only the same state, but same town.

Private Schools are EXPENSIVe, just as US schools, so many kids in Mexico like to study internationally their undergrad.

TheGame; yeah I heard about that but isnt it because there isn' really a large labor force anyways? I am just curious because considering the fact that I am not going to get a job in the US-and got rejected at a lot of internships this week hence my abrasive mood- I am thinking of migrating to another country and New Zealand is on my list...for now ;)

sefago,

If you're intent is to stay in the US after graduation, do what the rest of the illegal alien population is doing. Hide and find a job and remain incognito up until the final immigration bill is sign by Obama. Another option is marry a US citizen. Why would you make it hard for yourself looking for H1b visa and sponsorship when you all know in advance that those things are hard to come by this days. Personally, I'll keep all international students with undergraduate, graduate and post graduate degrees in the US because of the talent pool. So guys and gals, go out there and socialize. Shotgun marriage or arranged marriage is perfectly acceptable if it's gonna lead to green card.

well it is not intent to stay in the US, it is intent to find a job anywhere in any country that pays well and I can have a good standard of living and nope I cannot marry someone i do not love so that I can stay in the US...I need a job not a wife
